Removal & Installation

1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.

2. Remove No. 2 rear seats and seat belt shoulder anchors, if equipped. Remove screws and all door scuff plates. See Fig. 17 . Remove nuts and right and left cowl side trim panels. Remove front and rear door opening trim weatherstrips. Remove assist grip handle plugs, screws and all assist grip handles. Using screwdriver, pry and remove right and left front pillar garnish.

3. Remove right and left front lower seat belt anchor bolts. Using screwdriver, pry and remove right and left lower center pillar garnish and right and left front seat belt shoulder anchor covers. Remove front seat belt shoulder anchor bolts. Remove clips and right and left center pillar garnish. Using screwdriver, pry and remove dome light lens. Remove screws, disconnect connector and remove dome light.

4. Using screwdriver, pry and remove right and left rear trim covers and rear trim panel. Remove rear floor mat support plate. Using screwdriver, pry and remove right and left quarter trim hole cover or quarter trim upper belt hole cover if equipped with No. 2 rear seat. On models without rear air conditioning, remove rear deck trim. On models without tonneau cover, remove 2 tonneau cover holder caps.

5. On all models, remove right and left No. 1 rear seat belt lower anchor bolts and anchors and position aside. Remove bolts and clips, disconnect connectors and remove right and left quarter trim panels. Remove clips and right and left No. 2 rear window side garnish. Remove anchor caps and right and left No. 1 seat belt shoulder anchor bolts.

6. Remove rear window side garnish. On models with sunroof, use screwdriver and remove map light lens. Remove screws, disconnect connector and remove map light. Remove sunroof opening trim. On all models remove screws, disconnect connector and remove roof console box. Remove right and left sunvisors and holders. Using appropriate tool, remove 2 clips and headliner.

7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check the AIR BAG warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
