Dtc Check Clear

NOTICE:

When the diagnosis system is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa, all DTCs and freeze frame data recorded in normal mode are erased. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of DTCs and freeze frame data. HINT:

• DTCs which are stored in the ECM can be displayed on an intelligent tester. An intelligent tester can display current and pending DTCs.

• Some DTCs are not set if the ECM does not detect the same malfunction again during a second consecutive driving cycle. However, such malfunctions, detected on only one occasion, are stored as pending DTCs.

1. CHECK DTC (Using an intelligent tester)

(a) Connect an intelligent tester to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(d) Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.

(e) Check the DTC(s) and freeze frame data, and then write them down.

(f) Check the details of the DTC(s) (See page ES-54).

2. CLEAR DTC (Using an intelligent tester)

(a) Connect an intelligent tester to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(d) Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CLEAR CODES.

(e) Press the YES button.

3. CLEAR DTC (Without using an intelligent tester) (a) Perform either one of the following operations.

(1) Disconnect the negative battery cable for more than 1 minute.

(2) Remove the EFI and ETCS fuses from the Relay Block (R/B) located inside the engine compartment for more than 1 minute.

KNOCK SENSOR (for 2WD) REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

2. REMOVE BATTERY

3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See page CO-3)

4. DRAIN ENGINE OIL (See page LU-4)

5. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY

(See page EM-186)

6. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN OR BELT COVER SUBASSEMBLY

7. REMOVE COOL AIR INLET NO.1

(a) Remove the 2 bolts, then remove the cool air inlet.

8. REMOVE EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY NO.2 (See page EX-3)

9. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT (See page EX-3)

10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, then remove the exhaust manifold stay.

11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

(b) Remove the 6 nuts, then remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

12. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD (See page EM-93)

13. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS JOINT RR (See page EM-93)

14. REMOVE CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER NO.1

(a) Remove the 2 bolts, then remove the chain vibration damper No. 1.

15. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEARS AND NO.2 CHAIN (RH BANK) (See page EM-94)

16. REMOVE CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY NO.2 (See page EM-62)

17. REMOVE CAMSHAFTS (See page EM-94)

18. REMOVE CAMSHAFT BEARING NO.2

19. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY (See page EM-95)
