(a) Perform troubleshooting in accordance with the chart below.

CHECK WHETHER MIL TURNS OFF

(a) Connect an intelligent tester to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(d) Check whether any DTCs have been stored (See page ES-38). Note them down if necessary.

MIL should turn off.

REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTC

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT IN WIRE HARNESS)

Disconnect the E7 ECM connector. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that MIL is not illuminated. OK:

MIL is not illuminated.

Reconnect the ECM connector.

REPLACE ECM

CHECK AND REPAIR HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - ECM)

CHECK THAT MIL IS ILLUMINATED

(a) Check if the MIL is illuminated when the ignition switch is turns ON.

MIL should be illuminated.

SYSTEM OK

CHECK THAT ENGINE STARTS

(a) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(b) Start the engine. Result
