Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Start the engine before the inspection. Check the IG1 relay or battery if the engine does not start.

INSPECT FUSE (A/C)

(a) Remove the A/C fuse from the main body ECU.

(b) Measure the resistance. Standard resistance:

Bellow 1 Q

(c) Reinstall the A/C fuse.

REPLACE FUSE

INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER

Wire Harness Side:

Air Conditioning Amplifier Connector w/o PTC Heater:

Prius Body Ecu

(a) Disconnect the E8 air conditioning amplifier connector.

(b) Measure the voltage. Standard voltage

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

E8-8 (IG+) - E8-12 (GND)

Ignition switch ON

11 to 14 V

(c) Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.

Go to step 3

REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - MAIN BODY ECU)

Wire Harness Side:

Main Body ECU (Front View)

Air Conditioning Amplifier Connector w/o PTC Heater:

Prius Ptc Heater

(a) Disconnect the E8 air conditioning amplifier connector.

(b) Disconnect the 4S main body ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance. Standard resistance

Tester Connection

Specified Condition

E8-8 (IG+) - 4S-10

Below 1 Q

(d) Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.

(e) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the E8 air conditioning amplifier connector.

Wire Harness Side :

Air Conditioning Amplifier Connector w/o PTC Heater:

w/ PTC Heater:

(b) Measure the resistance. Standard resistance

Tester Connection

Specified Condition

E8-12 (GND) - Body ground

Below 1 Q

(c) Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
